MOSCOW, August 13 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Embassy in Nigeria has completed all the necessary formalities for the release of the Russian sailors currently in prison in Nigeria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Our embassy in Lagos has prepared and handed over the necessary documents - 12 guarantee letters from the Russian embassy to the defense lawyers. The documents are now being dealt with by the Nigerian authorities," a ministry spokesman said.
The Nigerian Foreign Ministry and the presidential advisor on national security must now approve these documents, after which they will be submitted to the court, which will then reach a decision over the release of the Russian sailors on bail.
