MOSCOW, August 14 (RIA Novosti) - Yulia Pechyonkina has won Russia's fifth gold medal in the 2005 International Association of Athletics Federation World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki, winning the 400m hurdles final with 52.92.
American Lashinda Demus held on for Silver (53.27) while her U.S. team mate Sandra Glover won Bronze (53.32).
The IAAF commission rejected an U.S. appeal alleging that Pechyonkina had illegally cleared a hurdle.
Russian shot putter Olga Ryabinkina won a silver medal after throwing 19.64 meters.
Gold in shotput went to Belarussian Nadezhda Ostapchuk (20.51) while New Zealand's Valerie Vili won Bronze.
Russian shot putter Svetlana Krivelyova finished fourth (19.16).
