MOSCOW, August 17 (RIA Novosti) - The main hit of the current Salzburg festival is Verdi's La Traviata starring Mariinsky prima donna Anna Netrebko.

During her brief visit to Russia, the singer gave an interview to the Vedomosti daily.

Netrebko, 34, is engaged for the next three years. She said she most enjoyed performing in London and New York, as she does not feel foreign there at all.

Netrebko said she had never had any problems being a Russian abroad, though she added that people in the West were now cautious about Russian singers.

"Russians do not have the green corridor they enjoyed in the late 1980s-early 1990s after the iron curtain fell," she said.

The opera singer recently released a DVD titled Anna Netrebko: The Woman, The Voice with classical opera arias and videos. The DVD evoked a contradictory response from the public and critics. Anna, however, was satisfied.

"Everyone [has the right to] do what they want in life," she said.

When asked about Hollywood, Anna, who appeared in the movie Princess Diary 2 for only 85 seconds, said she did not fancy a Hollywood career.

"It is not my cup of tea. My calling is to sing in a theater, and this is my job," she said.

She also said that every time she appeared on stage, she felt as if she were holding the whole world in her arms.
