MOSCOW, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - Platon Lebedev, a major shareholder in the oil giant Yukos who is serving a jail sentence for fraud together with his business associate Mikhail Khodorkovsky, has been placed in solitary confinement until August 25, his defense lawyer said Friday.
Konstantin Rivkin said the measure was meant as a punishment for his client's refusal to join other inmates for a routine walk on prison grounds.
In May, a Moscow district court sentenced Lebedev and former Yukos CEO Khodorkovsky to nine years in prison after finding them guilty of embezzlement and tax evasion.
