BEIRUT, August 21 (RIA Novosti, Pavel Davydov) - U.S. soldiers allegedly injured Commander of the Iraqi Border Guards General Ali Hamdi al-Mousawi on Saturday night.

The Iraqi news agency reported an American soldier opened fire on the general's car, when the latter was passing the Al-Hindia district in the southeast of Baghdad. Wounded in the belly, the general was hospitalized.

The U.S. Command denied that American soldiers could have been involved in the incident, saying there had been no U.S. patrols in the neighborhood at that moment, the news agency said.

Baghdad locals complain that U.S. soldiers and Iraqi security forces virtually daily attack passing cars, fearing gunmen and suicide bombers. As a rule, innocent people fall victims to such incidents.
