MOSCOW/NAZRAN, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - The explosive devices used in the attempt on the life of Ingush Prime Minister Ibrahim Malsagov had power equivalent to 1.5kg of TNT, a spokesman from the republic's Interior Ministry said.
Two bombs were used, the first of which was intended as a distraction.
"The explosive devices detonated one after another at a distance of around 15 meters from the motorcade. The first was used as a distraction, that is, it was only a bang," he said. In addition to Prime Minister Malsagov, two bodyguards who were traveling behind him were wounded and a third was killed.
The assassination attempt occurred Thursday in the Ingush capital of Nazran.
The explosions took place on Ulitsa Pobedy near the railroad station, the spokesman said. Malsagov was wounded but his condition is not life-threatening. He is currently hospitalized.
