VLADIVOSTOK, August 26 (RIA Novosti, Nikolai Ilyukhov) -- Russian coast guards detained eight North Korean ships poaching squid in Russian waters Thursday, a Federal Security Service (FSB) official said Thursday.
Six trawlers and two fishing schooners were detained in the Peter the Great Bay in the Sea of Japan and are currently being escorted in bad weather conditions to the port of Nakhodka, 90km from Vladivostok, for further investigation.
Coast guards found about seven tons of frozen squid on board of one of the ships and about 100-200kg of squid on each of the other vessels.
