MOSCOW, August 26 (RIA Novosti) - The CIS summit in the Volga region's city of Kazan will focus on reforming CIS bodies, elections of a new CIS Council chairman, humanitarian cooperation and work with youth, a Kremlin official said.

"The participants will have to decide how to make the work of CIS administrative bodies more effective, how to optimize the CIS structure and how to streamline the financing of CIS activities," the official said. "In that respect, the participants will sign an Agreement on humanitarian cooperation between CIS member countries."

CIS leaders will also discuss an address to peoples of CIS member countries and to the world community in connection with the 20th Anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe, the official said.

"The purpose of this document is to attract the attention of the world community to the issue of radiation safety," he said.

The participants also plan to adopt a statement on the 60th Anniversary of the UN and announce 2006 as The Year of the CIS, the official said.

The summit will also address the election of one of the heads of CIS member countries to the post of new CIS Council chairman.

CIS leaders will also sign a number of documents on the fight against terrorism and illegal migration.
