TASHKENT, August 26 (RIA Novosti) - The Uzbek senate's upper house released a document Friday in favor of a U.S. pullout from the country's Khanabad airbase.
The document says that Uzbekistan provided the United States with access to Khanabad, 249 miles south of the Uzbek capital of Tashkent, for rescue and search operations and humanitarian aid during the U.S.-led campaign in Afghanistan.
Parliament members said the United States no longer needed the airfield for this purpose.
