"Given the rapidly growing commodity turnover, diversifying bilateral trade and economic ties by intensifying the development of industrial and investment cooperation and implementing joint military-technological projects remains an important priority for the two countries," Mikhail Kamynin said.
"Italy's expertise in establishing industrial districts, which Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi suggested sharing with Russia at talks with Vladimir Putin in Sochi, 2002, is of great help in related efforts," Kamynin said.
Russia and Italy have embarked on a series of new important joint projects and issues to intensify their cultural and humanitarian ties, the diplomat said.
"Working to implement the idea put forward by the Russian president and Italian prime minister, the two countries have set up a bilateral forum of civil societies, which is designed to step up contacts between the Russian and Italian public," Kamynin said.
