MOSCOW, August 26 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian-Italian intergovernmental consultations will be held in Italy in late 2005 - early 2006, the official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Russia and Italy are outlining new guidelines in bilateral relations and setting practical goals in certain areas of bilateral cooperation, namely, preparations for the next extended intergovernmental consultations in Italy scheduled for late 2005 - early 2006," Mikhail Kamynin said.
"Italy is one of Russia's leading European partners," he said, "Political dialogue [with Italy] has recently gained new dynamics, partnership and trust, and aims to ensure intensive development of the Russian-Italian relations."
"Our countries are jointly discussing the condition and prospects of the fight against international terrorism, practical issues of strengthening bases of world order and increasing the UN's role, further bilateral cooperation on the development of Russia-EU relations, as well as the situation surrounding Iraq, ways to the Palestinian-Israeli settlement and other regional problems," the spokesman said.
