Colonel General Nikolai Rogozhkin told a news conference that a center in Russia's southern Krasnodar territory would be opened to train the troops.
"The Center will train special forces units as part of special combat groups capable of fighting in the mountains," Rogozhkin said. "A number of these units will be deployed in North Caucasus and will be made up of intelligence and special forces personnel."
According to the general, the center will meet all the requirements for training soldiers to fight in the mountains. In addition, instructors are currently being trained with the help of experts from the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Russia celebrates Special Forces Day on August 29. Rogozhkin met with officers and presented them with awards and gifts.
