NIZHNY NOVGOROD, August 29 (RIA Novosti, Zhanna Voronova) - The legislature of Chuvashia (an autonomous republic in central Russia) approved (66 to 2) Monday the candidacy of current Chuvash President Nikolai Fyodorov proposed by President Vladimir Putin on August 16.
Nikolai Fyodorov has been president of Chuvashia since 1993. He was re-elected twice, in 1997 and 2001. Fyodorov's second term will expire in December 2005.
