GROZNY, August 29 (RIA Novosti) - Twenty district election commissions for the preparation and execution of Chechnya's parliamentary elections scheduled for November 27 began work Monday, a Chechen election commissioner said.
Ali Tagirov said district commissions have handed their applications in to the local branches of Rosselkhozbank to open special election deposit accounts.
The deposit is around $13,000 for candidates from single mandate constituencies and more than $175,000 for political parties.
"Political parties need to collect more than 3% to retain their deposits," Tagirov said. If candidates lose their deposits, the funds go to the local budget, he said.
All in all, 58 deputies will be elected to the Chechen parliament - 18 to the Council of the Republic (the upper chamber) and 40 to the People's Council (the lower chamber).
