TEL AVIV, August 29 (RIA Novosti's Ratmir Orestov) - A Palestinian teenager was detained by Israeli police and security forces Monday as he was trying to get from the West Bank into Israel with three homemade explosive devices, a local radio station reported.
The fourteen-year-old was apprehended at the Havara checkpoint, south of Nablus, when a metal detector sounded an alert. A subsequent search of his belongings revealed three metal pipes filled with explosives, shrapnel, and glass balls. Soldiers conducted controlled explosions to detonate the bombs.
The teen has been handed over to the General Security Service, known as the SHABAK, for interrogation. He is believed to have been recruited by a Palestinian militant group.
This is the fourth time a Palestinian youth carrying explosives has been detained at the Havara checkpoint in the past six months.
