MOSCOW, August 31 (RIA Novosti) - Wage arrears in Russia exceeded $385 million on August 1, the State Statistics Committee said Wednesday.
"The total wage arrears in the monitored economic sectors (except small business) were 11,120 million rubles (about $389 million) on August 1, 2005, which is 1.5% less than on July 1," the report said.
More than 2 billion rubles ($70 million), or 18%, are wage arrears for 2004 and nearly 1.5 billion rubles ($52 million), or 13%, are for 2003 and previous years, the document said.
The Statistics Committee said that wage arrears had fallen in 40 members of the Russian Federation since July 1.
