According to the official, during a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov and U.S. Ambassador in Moscow William Burns, the sides "praised the efforts taken by Israeli and Palestinian authorities to conduct an organized, without serious shortcomings or incidents, withdrawal of Israeli settlements from a part of the Palestinian territories."
The participants of the meeting confirmed their readiness to continue coordinating their efforts both on a bilateral level and in the framework of the Quartet of international intermediaries (Russia, the U.S., the UN, and the EU), the ministry official said.
The sides also agreed that the withdrawal of Israel from the Gaza Strip and part of the West Bank "could give an additional boost to the revival of a peaceful settlement on the basis of the 'road map.'"
