MOSCOW, September 2 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov intends to propose that NATO and countries from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a regional association in the former Soviet Union, engage in closer cooperation to resolve issues in Afghanistan.
"I want to propose only a single measure, which is the establishment of closer cooperation between NATO and CSTO countries," Ivanov said Friday following a meeting with his Canadian counterpart Bill Graham.
The minister will take part in an informal meeting with NATO defense ministers in September in Berlin.
