MOSCOW, September 5 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the withdrawal of Russian peacekeeping forces from the western African state of Sierra-Leone, since the current UN mandate in the country expires December 31 and will not be renewed by the Security Council.
According to the document, Russia's peacekeeping force must leave the country by October 1 along with all weapons, equipment, and supplies.
Russia's foreign ministry is responsible for informing all interested parties of the withdrawal, and the defense ministry is in charge of the pullout.
The presidential decree was signed August 31 and immediately went into effect.
