Nabiyev was speaking at a meeting with members of a working group of foreign diplomats monitoring investigations and measures being implemented by the Uzbek government to stabilize the situation in Andijan and the Andijan region.
"Representatives from a number of Western media sources, unleashing an information war, deliberately distorted facts to give the international community the impression that peaceful demonstrators had been shot and that a charged situation is developing among the public," he said.
The Uzbek General Prosecutor's Office had similar misgivings.
"Nagiyev recounted to the diplomats in detail how the events unfolded at Andijan, about facts that have so far been ascertained, who the organizers of the uprising were and how they were linked to terrorist groups," the office said, adding that the number of people dead in terrorist attacks and the number of militants detained have also been falsified.
