MOSCOW, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - Russian tennis players Yelena Dementieva and Maria Sharapova will play Friday in New York in both semifinal matches of the US Open Tennis Tournament.
Dementieva, the 2004-US Open finalist, will play against France's Mary Pierce and then Sharapova, seeded first, will go up against Belgian Kim Clijsters.
Dementieva played Pierce in 2000 and 2003, wining both matches, but Sharapova met Clijsters three times leaving the scores of the meetings at 0:3 in favor of the Belgian.
Both games will be held at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Dementieva will face Pierce at about 9.30 p.m. Moscow time (5.30 p.m. GMT), followed by the Sharapova-Clijsters match.
