MOSCOW, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - The Chechen government is planning to establish a special economic zone in the republic, Chechen Prime Minister Sergei Abramov said Friday.
"In the near future, we will ask [the federal authorities] for permission to establish a special economic zone in the republic," he said at a news conference in Moscow.
"It will be located somewhere in the plains, but I do not want to reveal the exact location at this point," he said.
Speaking about the upcoming December 27 parliamentary elections, Abramov said he had great hopes for the future parliament.
"I expect the new parliament to start working immediately and lay a solid foundation for effective implementation of social and economic reforms in Chechnya," he said.
