LONDON, September 10 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Smotrov) - Charity concerts organized by the humanitarian charity Oxfam International are to be held in the Russian regions on September 10 and 11 in support of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty.

Hundreds of people are expected to watch local artists in Alexin (Tula region) on Saturday, and in Rybinsk (Yaroslavl region) on Sunday.

All performers will be wearing white bands symbolizing the war against poverty. Concert-goers will also be able to buy the symbolic white bands.

Currently, 150 million people in 70 countries around the world are involved in the Global Call to Action Against Poverty movement.

The event organizers hope that the UN summit next week will fully address the Millennium Development Goals drawn up in 2000, one of which is the war against poverty.
