Georgy Khaindrava, speaking at the close of talks in Moscow with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Valery Loschchinin, said that "we had very comprehensive talks today. I am very satisfied with the meeting and its results." The situation in the region, particularly in Tskhinvali, is very tense, and Georgia is concerned with the level of militarization, Khaindrava said. During the talks between the two ministers, implementation of the Sochi agreements were discussed.
"The Russian side supported our initiatives, including the program which we presented in Batumi [the capital of Adzharia, a Georgian autonomous republic]," he said. This program includes a three-level plan which "begins with the economic rehabilitation of the Tskhinvali region and Abkhazia [Georgian breakaway republic], the implementation of joint projects for demilitarization, and a switch to political negotiations," Khaindrava said."
