BRUSSELS, September 13 (RIA Novosti, Alexander Shishlo) - Russia and the European Union have almost reached an agreement during the negotiations on visa facilitation and readmission, Russia's envoy to the EU said Tuesday.
"These two agreements are being considered simultaneously. The sides gathered for another round of talks on Sept. 8. Some elements remain uncoordinated, but I think the parties are close to a final agreement," Chizhov said.
He said major obstacles at the talks were the need for higher security on Russian borders, revising Russia's migration law and looking for a fair and mutually acceptable solution.
Chizhov said a facilitated visa regime and readmission would be considered at the 16th Russia-EU summit due in London in early October.
