PARIS, September 16 (RIA Novosti) - France's Mary Pierce and Russia's Yelena Dementieva will open the Fed Cup tennis finals Saturday on Roland Garros court in Paris.
The draw placed France's Amelie Mauresmo against Russia's Anastasia Myskina for the second match of the day.
The following day, the single's tennis players will exchange their previous competitors, pitting Mauresmo against Dementieva and Pierce against Myskina. The finals will close with a pair's match, where Russia's Vera Dushevina and Dinara Safina will face France's Nathalie Dechy and Amelie Mauresmo.
Russia and France have played against each other seven times in the Fed Cup, with Russia holding a 4-3 edge. Five of those encounters occurred in the last six years, most recently last year's, when Russia defeated the French team 3-2 in Moscow winning the 2004 Fed Cup.
