MOSCOW, September 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov called for joint international effort in the sphere of scientific research Sunday.
"Russia is focusing on the development of sciences and innovation because we realize that we are entering a new stage in the world development, the stage of knowledge economy," Fradkov said at a contest of EU young scientists held at the Bauman Technical University in Moscow.
The premier praised the EU decision to hold the competition at one of the most prestigious Russian universities, which celebrates its 175th anniversary this year.
