MOSCOW, September 22 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has sent a request to extradite Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky, wanted for "the crime he committed on Russian territory", to Latvia, an office spokesman said Thursday.

Berezovsky, 59, was accused by the authorities of aggravated fraud, the spokesman said.

Berezovsky, who arrived in Riga Wednesday, said he was on a business trip promoting goods manufactured by Ignite, a company owned by Neil Bush, U.S. President George Bush's younger brother.

The tycoon also said he intended to meet with Latvian officials, including Seim parliament Speaker Ingrid Udre and Interior Minister Eriks Jekabsons, along with Latvian university professors.

Jekabsons recently said after meeting with President Vaira Vike-Freiberga that Berezovsky would not be arrested and extradited to Russia if he were to come to Latvia.

Berezovsky, who is currently on the international wanted list, fled to Britain where he was granted political asylum and has been living there since 2000.
