MOSCOW, September 22 (RIA Novosti) - The Tajik Anti-Drug Agency plans to form several mobile teams next month to fight drug trafficking, an agency official said Thursday.
"Mobile teams will start operating in October to intercept drug traffickers and stop the flow of drugs from neighboring countries," Rustam Nazarov, the head of the agency, told a news conference in Moscow.
According to Nazarov, Tajik law enforcement has the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border under control.
In the first eight months of 2005, Tajik police and border guards intercepted 3.5 metric tons of narcotics, including about 2.3 tons of heroin.
