TBILISI, September 22 (RIA Novosti) - Prison officials in Rustavi, a city in the South Caucasus republic of Georgia, discovered a 12-meter-long tunnel dug by six prisoners, the Georgian Justice Ministry said Thursday.
The ministry said the 33-inch diameter tunnel, which began under a cell bunk and had lights installed, led to the prison's main defensive wall.
A pick, a spade, a rope, and a device to bring dirt to the surface were discovered inside the tunnel. Prisoners hid the dirt under the floorboards in a neighboring barrack.
