In 2004, Russian exports to Argentina totaled $35 billion, a sevenfold increase compared to 2003, Sergei Dankvert said after a meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission for trade and economic and scientific-technical cooperation. Russian imports from Argentina totaled $350 million in 2004 and $233 million in 2003, he added.
Russian exports to Argentina totaled $34 million in January-July 2005, whereas imports amounted to over $360 million.
He also said that agricultural products accounted for 95% of Argentine exports to Russia, and Russia supplied roller bearings and fertilizers to Argentina.
The commission decided to promote cooperation in the industrial, space, and nuclear power sectors, Dankvert said, adding that Russia planned to assemble trucks in Argentina.
