MOSCOW, September 30 (RIA Novosti) - Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister said Friday that his first official foreign visit has been intended to stress the importance of relations with Russia.

Felix Kulov said: "The visit is purely political and, since it was my first visit in the position [of prime minister], it was important to outline our [foreign policy] priorities and our loyalty to friendly, partner relations with Russia."

"Russia is our main strategic partner," he added.

The prime minister said his two-day visit to Moscow mostly focused on economic issues.

"The talks were about the participation of the Russian capital in a number of Kyrgyz industrial enterprises and various economic sectors," he said.

Kulov also said the new Kyrgyz government would focus on the fight against corruption and unemployment in the country to improve the economic situation.

"One of the main reasons for the recent revolution in the country was the economic situation. Therefore, it is obvious what could happen if we do not improve our economy," the premier said.
