MOSCOW, October 1 (RIA Novosti) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a letter to his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao congratulating him on the 56th anniversary of the PRC's foundation, the Russian presidential press service reported on Saturday.
"It is greatly encouraging that Russian-Chinese interaction is expanding in all spheres. There is an active political dialogue. There is effective coordination of positions on key international matters. Trade, economic, and investment cooperation is advancing and acquiring new forms," the letter says.
"All of this gives cause to say that relations between our countries, based on a genuine strategic partnership, are developing successfully," the document says.
The Russian president also cited regular Russian-Chinese summit meetings, which "invariably bring good practical results," as an important factor in this positive process. "I am confident that our decision to hold the Year of Russia in China, in 2006, will provide an extra impetus to our bilateral relations," the Russian head of state said.
