MOSCOW, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - The request of attorney Olga Artyukhova, a member of former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky's defense team, to have her license to practice law discontinued has been granted, the Moscow registration service said Thursday.
"Artyukhova submitted a request to her status as an attorney discontinued as of October 3, 2005 to the Council of the Moscow Bar Association," the service said. "The Council granted Artyukhova's request and discontinued her status as an attorney."
Earlier on Thursday, the Moscow Bar Association said it would consider prosecutors' request to disbar other Khodorkovsky's lawyers Anton Drel, Denis Dyatlov and Yelena Levina. They are accused of "breaching attorneys' ethics" and deliberately "dragging out" Khodorkovsky's appeal.
The Moscow City Court rejected the jailed tycoon's appeal on September 22, but reduced his sentence from nine to eight years.
