Russian foreign trade in 8M05 up 34.5% year-on-year

MOSCOW, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's foreign trade during the first eight months of 2005 totaled $230.7 billion, up 34.5% year-on-year, the Central Bank said Friday.

Foreign trade in August hit $32.4 billion, against $25 billion in August 2004.

Export in the first eight months aggregated $155.4 billion, up from $112.7 billion year-on-year, while imports came to $75.3 billion, up from $58.8 billion.

Exports in August 2005 amounted to $22 billion vs. $16.8 billion in August 2004, while imports were at $10.5, against $8.226 billion last year.

The positive trade balance during the first eight months reached $80 billion, against $53.8 in the same period of 2004. This figure for august was $11.5 billion, up from $8.5 billion year-on-year.
