LISBON, October 10 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Portugal could hold joint military exercises, the Russian defense minister said Monday. "I easily foresee it involving both the Navy and Air Force," Sergei Ivanov said. He said Russian and Portuguese ships would participate in NATO's Operation Active Endeavor in the Mediterranean in early 2006.
Portuguese National Defense Minister Luis Amado said his country needed to extend its military sector and intended to promote closer military and technical relations with Russia.
