MOSCOW, October 12 (RIA Novosti) - More than 30 metric tons of meat have been stolen in St. Petersburg, the Russian Interior Ministry said Wednesday.
The incident occurred Tuesday on the city's highway leading to Moscow.
"A business owner told police that two unknown men drove up to his KamAZ truck, with 31 tons of meat on board, that was parked on the roadside for minor repairs, forced him into their car, and took him in an unknown direction," a police spokesman said.
The assailants pulled a wool hat over his face and drove him around the city for nine hours.
"When the victim eventually returned to the place where his truck had been parked, it was gone," a ministry official said.
The businessman said he had lost 3 million rubles (about $100,000).
