MOSCOW, October 12 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a resolution postponing local self-government reform from 2006 until 2009, the Kremlin press service said Wednesday.
The resolution introduces amendments to relevant federal laws.
Leonid Roketsky, the chairman of the local self-government committee of the Federation Council (parliament's upper house) said earlier that many federation members were not ready to launch the reform in 2006.
"Now federation members can decide whether to begin self-government reforms now or in 2009," he said.
