TBILISI, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's biggest manufacturer of equipment for power plants announced in a posting Thursday that it had signed a $2.7 million contract for turbine repair with a Georgian utility company.
Under the contract, Silovye Mashiny will be supplying repaired turbines to the hydroelectric power plant Gumati 1, in Georgia, from July 1, 2006, through year's end.
Gumati 1 has four hydraulic turbines, with a capacity of 11.5MWt, and four hydraulic generators. A recent examination carried out by Silovye specialists showed that the plant's equipment, installed back in the 1950s, is worn out and needs repairing and upgrading to be able to operate at full capacity again.
Silovye Mashiny will also contribute to the assembly and launch of the repaired turbines.
