MOSCOW, October 17 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's IT sector attracted a total of $15.7 billion in investments in 2000-2004, IT Minister Leonid Reiman said Monday.
Reiman said the sector had experienced a growth of 30% in the first half of 2005 against the same period last year.
The IT market increased threefold over the four-year period to reach some 800 billion rubles ($28 billion). The development concept envisions the market reaching $40 billion and employing 5% of the able-bodied population by 2010, Reiman said.
"But these are quantitative indices," the minister said. "A very important qualitative feature will be the implementation of the IT market development concept that will make Russia a net exporter of information technology."
