Wolfowitz plans to discuss Russia's role in the global economy against the backdrop of its upcoming G8 presidency in 2006, along with relations between Russia and the World Bank Group.
On arrival in Moscow, Wolfowitz told journalists that Russia, as chair of the G8, would play a key role in fighting poverty and providing international assistance to developing countries.
Wolfowitz said that during his first visit in Moscow as World Bank president, he would outline the bank's future plans, which would contribute to Russia's development. He also said the relationship between the World Bank and Russia had been adapting to the changes within Russia.
During his two-week trip, Wolfowitz will also visit Stockholm and Helsinki to meet with the heads of the central banks from the Nordic and Baltic states.
