MOSCOW, October 21 (RIA Novosti) - Major Russian commercial airline Aeroflot proposed Friday that the duties for a number of effective foreign planes and their components imported by Russian carriers be canceled.
"Otherwise, Russian air carriers will not only be gradually ousted from the international transportation market, but will soon even lose the domestic market," Aeroflot CEO Valery Okulov said at a meeting with members of parliament.
He said the proposal coincided with the main provisions of Russia's transportation strategy.
Okulov called old planes made in the Soviet Union, and, even new Russian aircraft, economically inefficient.
