MOSCOW, October 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Railways (RZD), a railroad transportation giant, invites North and South Koreas to consider establishing an international consortium on a Trans-Korean railroad project.
Speaking at the Moscow-based Center for Strategic Studies before representatives of political and economic institutions of Russia and South Korea, RZD vice president Anna Belova said Friday RZD was "interested in continuing the work to build a Trans-Korean Railroad, which will be subsequently linked with the Transsiberian Railroad."
Belova said that Russian Railways had completed a feasibility study of the project.
"Three-sided negotiations between Russia, the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, however, were interrupted so the issue of linking the two railroads is still unresolved," Belova was quoted as saying in an RZD news release.
The company said Russia's Foreign Ministry could be instrumental in initiating a tripartite meeting.
