BISHKEK, October 22 (RIA Novosti) - The Kyrgyz parliament will hold an extraordinary session Sunday to discuss Prime Minister Felix Kulov's resignation, two deputies said Saturday. "The state, in the person of the government, has not fulfilled its direct commitments to protect the deputy," Kamchibek Tashiyev and Nurdin Abdyldayev said, referring to MP Tynychbek Akmatbayev who had been taken hostage and killed in a Kyrgyz penal colony he was inspecting.

"Kulov should resign. If he does not do so, we will help him," Tashiyev said.

An unsanctioned rally organized by the relatives of the killed deputy is underway in downtown Bishkek. Some 500 protesters are demanding that Prime Minister Kulov resign.

Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev is conducting a conference with the heads of the republic's security agencies. "The president is informed about the events," Kulov said. "He controls the situation."
