GROZNY, October 22 (RIA Novosti) - Chechnya's election commission has registered 356 candidates who will run in the parliamentary election, scheduled for November 27, commission chairman Ismail Baikhanov said Saturday.
"At 1 p.m. Moscow time, the election commission finished the registration of candidates, and these figures are final," Baikhanov said.
Of this number, 266 candidates will run for the Popular Assembly (the lower house), including 106 on party lists from eight political parties, and 90 candidates for the Republic's Council (the upper house), Baikhanov said.
In all, 58 deputies are to be elected, including 20 on party lists and 38 in single-member constituencies. The Popular Assembly will have 40 deputies and the Republic's Council 18 deputies.
