TBILISI, October 23 (RIA Novosti, Marina Kvaratskhelia) - Georgia has freed a Russian military observer earlier detained by the Georgian law enforcement agencies on suspicion of terrorism, a Russian official said Sunday.
Yevgeny Ivanov, the press-attache of the Russian Embassy to Georgia, said that the military observer was freed after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili.
Russian military observer Lt. Col. Roman Boiko was detained by Georgia's State Security Department in the city of Gori on October 21. He was placed in a detention center in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
