Russian co-Chairman of the MCC Valery Kenyaikin said the first stage of the trilateral approach imposes the demilitarization of the conflict zone and a restoration of trust. Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli, currently on a visit to the United States, met today with Head of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Richard Lugar. Nogaideli asked Lugar that the U.S. Senate support a separate plan of peaceful initiatives, proposed by the Georgian president, to solve the same conflict.
Nogaideli intends to officially present Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's new plan at the OSCE Council session in Vienna next week, a source in the premier's staff said.
"Nogaideli will present a detailed plan with all steps necessary for the final solution of the conflict," the source said.
