MOSCOW, October 25 (RIA Novosti) - An unemployed woman from the western Russian city of Bryansk was sentenced to six years in prison for trying to sell her six-year-old daughter, the General Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday.

A regional court found Olga Zelentsova guilty of "trade in human beings," using a minor "with the aim of exploitation, and the extraction of organs or tissue."

The court established that Zenentsova had decided to sell her daughter for $10,000. "An officer of the Bryansk Interior Ministry Department's organized crime office posed as a buyer. He told the mother that the child would work as a prostitute and might be used for extracting organs or tissue. In response, the woman handed over her daughter's birth certificate and medical card," the General Prosecutor's office said.

Zelentsova was arrested during the transaction.

The court is now considering the local prosecutor's demand that Zelentsova's parental rights to her daughter and three-month-old be removed.
