MOSCOW, October 28 (RIA Novosti)-Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu briefed Vladimir Putin Friday on Russian efforts to help people affected by the massive earthquake that hit Pakistan.
"More than 2,000 people were hurt," Shoigu told the president, referring to the local population who had sought attention from Russian doctors. "[We] operated on a large number of people."
The minister also said that more than 3 million needed blood transfusions.
The ministry was working on plans with its colleagues from Switzerland to send a cargo helicopter to the area.
