DUSHANBE, October 28 (RIA Novosti) - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is planning to allot $672,000 to the victims of the floods in Tajikistan this year, the U.S. Embassy in the country said Friday.
The aid will be earmarked for the construction of apartment buildings for 199 families under the Shelter for Life program. Help will also be given to 79 families in Khamadoni in southern Tajikistan and 1,200 families in Pendzhikent in the north. The aid mostly suggests the procurement of construction materials.
The Tajik Ministry of Emergency Situations estimates damage from natural calamities in the country in nine months of 2005 at $63 million.
